Nutrition & Hydration (inc MUST)

Course Description

This course is essential for all health and social care staff who support individuals with nutrition and hydration, looks at what the body needs in terms of nutrition and hydration, good nutritional as well as the effects of malnutrition. Support and the use of screening tools.

Course Outline

  • Be able to define the terms, food, diet nutrition and malnutrition
  • Explore what a balanced diet is and how nutritional needs may change
  • Identify why older adults and vulnerable groups may be at risk of malnutrition and dehydration
  • Look at the short and long term effects of dehydration and malnutrition
  • The use of the MUST screening tool
  • Care planning for those at risk of dehydration and poor nutrition

Course Duration



The trainer will carry out an on-going assessment.


All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.


The course can be delivered at locations to suit the client or at one of our training venues.
