Catheter Care

Course Description

This course is essential to all staff working with individuals who have either indwelling, super pubic catheters or individuals who self-catheterise, it provides essential knowledge to support dignity in catheter care as well as ensuring staff supporting individuals understand the importance of and strategies used to ensure effective hygiene and infection control.

Course Outline

• Review and recap of the urinary system and the types of urinary incontinence
• The different types of catheters and catheter products
• Infection control and preventing catheter associated urinary tract infections
• Principles of effective catheter care including
• Record keeping in relation to catheter care

Course Duration



The trainer will carry out an on-going assessment.


All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.


The course can be delivered at locations to suit the client or at one of our training venues.
